This artifact is extremely useful in that it follows the movement in education towards inclusion and being mindful of different learning styles and modalities. I have a strong belief in instructing towards different learning styles because my learning style was never one that was conducive to learning in the standard structure of grade school classes. This artifact reveals the retention rates of student learning given different methods of instruction, as well as a diagram that maps out the components of differentiation. This is something I will use to guide my instruction to work for all of my students.
Through discussions and the learning in EDU 410 differentiation is definitely a tool I will utilize in my future classroom. We discussed how there are different kinds of differentiation; direct and indirect instruction and many more. We also learned the differentiation and motivation go hand in hand; the same strategies that create the basis for motivation in your classroom can also promote differentiation. We discussed how differentiation can be most effectively used when you find what works best for your diverse group of students, you need to match your instruction with their learning styles and modalities. Another aspect of differentiation that we discussed was the fact that it needs to be planned for; how much time, the audience its directed towards, and the environment and context in which it will be instilled.
